In Pharmaceutical & Cosmetics Industries, water participates in a large extent in the production process. Water quality specifications vary depending on the stage of production. In the early stages of chemical synthesis and cleaning of equipment, drinking water is required. The production of excipients requires purified water, while the production of injectable drugs requires quality water as defined by International Standards. Also, at certain stages of production, water is required to be sterile.

For these applications, the proposed methods are filtration, softening, desalination by reverse osmosis method, electro-deionization, chemical treatment and disinfection.
