Brackish water treatment system for production of 4 m3/h water with conductivity < 0,1 μS/cm

In January 2010 a TEMAK water treatment system was set in operation.  The system produces 4 m3/h of water with conductivity < 0,1 μS/cm, suitable for the production of cosmetics at a large pharmaceutical company.  The feed water to this system comes from a well and has conductivity 1200 μS/cm.

The system is installed in a 40” high cube container, with thermal insulation, ventilation and air-conditioner.

It is a double pass reverse osmosis unit with pre-treatment consisting of a turbidity filter, active carbon filter and softener.

The permeate water of the second pass of the reverse osmosis unit is further treated by an electrodeionisation, in order to produce water with extremely low conductivity.

The novelty of this application is the continuous water circulation, so as to reduce to a minimum the possibility of any microbial growth.

Additionally, the piping after the EDI unit is made of stainless steel AISI 316L with roughness Ra < 0,8 μm, according to the very strict specifications of the pharmaceutical industry.  Finally, the product water’s conductivity and flow meters are installed using tri-clamp connections, sanitary type.

With a presence of 40 years, over 70 people permanent staff and self-owned premises of 7500 m2 in Athens and Thessaloniki, TEMAK remains the largest and leading water treatment company in the Greek market (complete water treatment systems, fluid control equipment and chemicals).  The production lines include high quality systems for an extensive range of applications, from house to the most specialised industry for the local as well as for the international market. The well trained personnel is always available to propose flexible and reliable solutions suitable to every need or to design from the beginning a new system, fully complying with client’s specifications and according to the latest technologies.
